  Meet Our New CEO

Hello!  My name is Jeff Peters and I am the new CEO of the Breeden YMCA!
I was born in Battle Creek, MI and grew up east of Cleveland, OH on the shores of Lake Erie.  I went to College at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.  Upon graduation from college, I joined Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and I worked at their manufacturing facilities in Lawton, OK and Beaumont, TX.
I left Goodyear and joined Johnson Controls, Inc. as their Human Resource Manager in Coldwater, MI in 1986.  Then, as manypeople have experienced, the plant closed in 1991 and I had to lay off all of the people I hired, plus myself!  I had started my own employment service on a part time basis in 1988 and went into that business fulltime upon the closure of the facility.  I have successfully operated my business for 19 years and look forward to many more years of operation.
I am very happy to have been a part of this YMCA since I became a member in January 2000 when the YMCA opened.  I was so impressed with the Association that I accepted the invitation to join the Board of Directors in October 2000.  During my terms on the Board of Directors, I have held the positions of Treasurer and President of the Board.  I was asked to become the Interim Director of the YMCA when the previous CEO resigned in May.
Our YMCA continues to face many challenges, some of them financial.  We will be having some fundraising events that I hope will match the shortfalls in our operation budget.  I know that many non-profits are asking for funds for their operations and building programs.  Our YMCA is no different.  Only with your support through your membership dues, programming fees and donations, will the YMCA continue to thrive and flourish.
The Breeden YMCA is a fantastic facility and is a great Association!
*     We are the only YMCA in the country that makes its own hot water and electricity!  We now have other YMCAs looking at our co-gen system in order that they may save some money on their utility expences.
*     In July of this year, we combined our daycare operation with Cameron Hospital's daycare operation.  We average 80 children per day!  Childcare is a major problem for, not only our community, but communities across the country.  We are looking at ways to help those that need childcare.
*     Our cardio and wellness equipment are second to none in the area.
*     Programming at the YMCA continues to grow.  We have added boxing, Zumba and additional Pilates and aerobic classes!  Other programs are in the works.  It is now a matter of where to have the programs, since there is very little room available at the YMCA... not a bad problem to have!
I have met many members since becoming the Interim CEO.  I would like to continue to meet as many of our members as possible.  Please stop into my office and introduce yourself.  If ther is anything I or the Staff can do to improve your experience at the YMCA, please do not hesitate to contact me at 668-3607 or you can email me at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  We are here to serve you!

A Safe Place to Learn and Grow

The YMCA changes lives by creating programs that focus on building affirmative relationships as well as individual character.  What children and adults learn at the YMCA will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

The YMCA focuses on nurturing those character traits that lead to success.  Here at the Breeden YMCA, we understand that communities are built on people.  Our communities are only as honorable and compassionate as the individuals they are made of.  We are committed to inproving our community, our world, one person at a time.

YMCA's Commitment to America

America's YMCAs commit to extend our charitable heritage by directly engaging 25 million children and adults from all segments of our communities in achieving health of spirit, mind and body by 2012.

*Every child and youth will deepen positive values, their commitment to service and their    motivation to learn.
*Every family will build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance and become more engaged with their communities.
*Every individual will strengthen their spiritual, mental and physical well-being.

Why the "Y"?

Something for EVERYONE!

As a member involving organization, the YMCA faces challenges in impacting lives in meaningful ways-moving member satisfaction to loyal and involved, casual relationships to committed relationships-moving the ordinary experiences toward extraordinary and meaningful.

Many do not realize that the sports of basketball and volleyball were invented by the YMCA!  Everyday, the YMCA impacts millions of people nationwide.  Each day, YMCAs across the nation are building young stars in all areas-from sports to youth & government.

Are YOU interested in being a part of this national movement?  A great way to start is to belong to your local YMCA.  The YMCA has many great opportunities for you!
